Distribution of textbooks to Serey Damnak Primary School

On 29-11-2010 Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong undertook a new site visit in order to donate several hundred text books to the pupils of Serey Damnak Primary School, located in the province of Ta Keo where the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation has earned ample recognition through its support to numerous primary schools.

Upon their arrival, Prince NORODOM Chakrapong and his team were welcome by a whole delegation comprising not only the director and the teachers of Serey Damnak Primary school but also laypeople from the nearby pagoda, an illustration of how much the Foundation’s standing has steadily increased in that province over the past three years.

As usual, a customary consultative meeting took place within the premises of the school where Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM gave to the representatives of the Serey Damnak primary school the opportunity to extensively present their activities and the difficulties they have to face on a daily basis when teaching pupils and managing the school. The President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation carefully listened to the director and the teachers before giving them advices and pronouncing encouraging words. While congratulating the national and local authorities for their strong support to education, Samdech Preah Mohessara exhorted the teachers and their students to keep on working and strive to achieve their objectives.

To conclude the meeting, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong proceeded to the distribution of text books donated by the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation, offering a total of 380 books covering all topics studied throughout the six years of Cambodia’s primary school cycle.

Throughout the distribution ceremony, the director, the teachers and the pupils of Serey Damnak Primary School expressed their deep gratitude to the President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation for his deep commitment to the cause of education, in particular in rural areas where difficulties are the most challenging.

Before saying goodbye to their hosts, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong and his team joined the traditional photo session, standing altogether in front of the meeting room of Serey Damnak Primary School. Then, the representatives of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation and their President started the trip back to Phnom Penh, with a sense of accomplishment and renewed determination.

Le 29-11-2010, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong s’est de nouveau rendu dans la province de Ta Keo, où la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong est désormais bien connue grâce au soutien apporté à de nombreux établissements scolaires, pour faire une nouvelle donation de plusieurs centaines de manuels scolaires aux élèves de l’école primaire Serey Damnak.

La réputation de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong n’ayant cessé de croitre dans cette province au cours des trois années passées, c’est un véritable comité d’accueil, comprenant non seulement le directeur et les enseignants de l’école Serey Damnak mais aussi les laïcs et les nonnes de la pagode voisine, qui est venu accueillir le Prince NORODOM Chakrapong et son équipe à leur arrivée à l’établissement.

Au cours de la traditionnelle réunion de consultation et de concertation qui s’est tenue dans les bâtiments de l’établissement, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong a comme à son habitude laissé les représentants de l’école primaire Serey Damnak exposer en détail leurs activités et les difficultés auxquelles ils sont confrontés dans le quotidien de leurs activités d’enseignement. Le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong a ainsi longuement écouté le directeur et les enseignants de l’école avant de leur prodiguer conseils et encouragements. Félicitant les autorités nationales et locales pour les actions entreprises en faveur de l’éducation, Samdech Preah Mohessara a exhorté les enseignants comme les élèves à ne pas relâcher leurs efforts et à continuer à faire de leur mieux.

A l’issue de cette réunion, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong a procédé à la distribution des dons offerts par la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong, remettant aux élèves un total de 380 manuels scolaires couvrant toutes les matières des six classes du cycle primaire de l’éducation nationale cambodgienne.

Au cours de la distribution, le directeur, les enseignants et les enfants de l’école ont exprimé leur très profonde reconnaissance au Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong pour son dévouement à la cause de l’éducation en particulier dans les zones rurales, où les difficultés sont les plus grandes.

Avant de quitter leurs hôtes, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong et son équipe se sont prêtés à la traditionnelle séance de photo souvenir, sur le pas de la salle de réunion de l’école primaire Serey Damnak. Puis les membres de la délégation de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong ont repris la route de la capitale, habités par le sentiment du devoir accompli et la volonté de faire plus encore.

Donation of textbooks to Pothidos Primary School

On 9-12-2010, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong and the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation’s team brought their support to a new school located in the province of Ta Keo: Pothidos Primary School.

Since this school didn’t receive any assistance from the Foundation in the past, most of the classes were lacking textbooks with one book typically having to be shared amongst several pupils. Despite the important efforts undertaken by the Royal Government of Cambodia, which have allowed for a strong increase in the national rate of school enrollment, the lack of textbooks stills considerably worsens learning conditions at the local level, increasing the risks of school failure amongst children.

Faced with such a difficult situation and having heard the reputation of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation, whose presence in the province of Ta Keo is now very well noticed and appreciated by an ever increasing number of stakeholders involved in the education sector, the director and the teachers of Pothidos Primary School decided to send a request for support to Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, who answered positively.

Therefore, the President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation and his team received a very warm welcome by the director, the teachers and the pupils of Pothidos Primary School, even joined by the nuns from the local pagoda.

As usual, Samdech Preah Mohessara started the visit by exchanging with his hosts in order to better understand their situation and their needs while encouraging teachers to continue their mission for the sake of the next generations and exhorting the children to study harder in order to secure a safe future.

The President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation then proceeded with the distribution of textbooks, donating a total of 406 books covering all topics of Primary School’s 6 years cycle: Khmer language, mathematics, social sciences, applied sciences. The school’s representatives cheerfully received these donations from the hands of Prince NORODOM Chakrapong, while the nuns were gladly watching.

To end this pleasant visit, and before heading back to Phnom Penh, Samdech Preah Mohessara and his team posed for the usual photography session, along with the school’s director and teachers, the nuns and of course the pupils, who were a bit shy but obviously delighted by a visit they could not have hoped for in the past.

Le 9-12-2010, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong et l’équipe de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong ont apporté leur soutien à un nouvel établissement scolaire de la province de Ta Keo : l’école primaire Pothidos.

Cette école n’ayant jamais bénéficié du soutien de la Fondation par le passé, c’est l’ensemble des classes qui manquaient de manuels scolaires, plusieurs élèves devant se partager un seul ouvrage. En dépit des nombreux efforts mis en œuvre par le Gouvernement Royal du Cambodge et qui ont permis une augmentation réelle du taux de scolarité au niveau national, le manque de manuels scolaires rend les conditions d’apprentissage particulièrement difficiles au niveau local, augmentant considérablement les risques d’échec scolaire des enfants.

C’est cette situation difficile et la renommée de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong, dont l’action dans la province de Ta Keo est désormais connue et appréciée d’un nombre croissant d’acteurs du secteur de l’éducation, qui a poussé la direction et les enseignants de l’école primaire Pothidos à soumettre une demande de soutien à Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, lequel y a répondu favorablement.

Ainsi le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong et son équipe ont-ils été très chaleureusement été accueillis par le directeur, les enseignants et les élèves de l’école primaire Pothidos, auxquels ont même souhaité se joindre les nonnes de la pagode voisine.

Samdech Preah Mohessara a comme à son habitude commencé par s’entretenir avec ses hôtes, cherchant à mieux comprendre leur situation et leurs besoins et prodiguant des paroles d’encouragement aux enseignants pour poursuivre leur mission au service de la nouvelle génération et aux élèves pour redoubler d’effort afin d’assurer leur avenir.

Le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong a ensuite procédé à la distribution des manuels scolaires, offrant un total de 406 ouvrages couvrant toutes les matières des 6 années du cycle du primaire : langue khmère, mathématiques, sciences sociales, sciences appliquées. C’est avec joie que les représentants de l’établissement ont reçu ces manuels des mains du Prince NORODOM Chakrapong, sous l’œil ravi des nonnes.

A l’issue de cette joyeuse session et avant de reprendre le chemin de Phnom Penh, Samdech Preah Mohessara et son équipe ont sacrifié à l’habituelle séance de photo souvenir, posant parmi les enseignants, les nonnes et bien sûr les enfants, intimidés mais heureux de cette visite inespérée.
