On 31 July 2009, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation, and his team travelled to the province of Kompong Speu in order to bring support and assistance to the Prey Chreap and Yabatong Tropeang K’aek Primary Schools.
These two primary schools already benefited from the support of the Foundation, several weeks ago, when their pupils studying in Year1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 were donated free handbooks. At that time, the Prey Chreap Primary School had also requested that the Foundation help it establish a vegetable garden in order to further ensure food security for the teachers and pupils.
Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong and his team received a very warm welcome, being already well acquainted with both schools where they had undertaken a previous mission: the Directors and teachers were very glad to see that the President of the Foundation had kept his word to come back while the children were eagerly waiting for the moment they would be given their own set of handbooks.
As usual, within each school, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong started by sitting together with the director and teachers in order to assess the school’s situation, especially as a new year had recently started.
The President of the Foundation then moved on to the traditional distribution of handbooks to the pupils: a total of 200 handbooks were thus donated in each school: 100 handbooks for pupils studying in Year 4 and 100 for pupils studying in Year 5, covering all four topics taught in class. The young students were overjoyed to receive these handbooks which they had been impatiently waiting for. Aware that their classes would from now on be taught in much better conditions, the teachers and directors were also very satisfied.
Within the Prey Chreap Primary School, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong then visited the location of the future vegetable garden, a project which had been agreed upon during his previous visit. The director of the school received from Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong a complete set of gardening tools which will allow the establishment and maintenance of this vegetable garden: 7 spades, 7 hoes, 7 shovels, 1 cleavers and 1 axe.
This support was all the more appreciated by the Prey Chreap Primary School’s population since the province of Kompong Speu often suffers from harsh climatic conditions with heavy consequences for local harvest.
At the end of visits full of emotion and promises for the future, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong and his team bade farewell to their hosts who were expressing their utmost appreciation for the support granted to both schools.
Le 31 juillet 2009, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong, et son équipe se sont rendus dans la province de Kompong Speu pour apporter des aides aux écoles primaires Prey Chreap et Yabatong Tropeang K’aek.
Ces écoles ont déjà par le passé bénéficié de l’assistance la Fondation, leurs élèves de 1ère, 2ème, 3ème et 4ème année du cycle primaire s’étant vus distribuer des livres scolaires gratuits. L’école de Prey Chreap avait en outre sollicité l’appui de la Fondation pour la création d’un potager destiné à renforcer la sécurité alimentaire des enseignants et des élèves.
Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong et ses collaborateurs connaissant désormais bien ces établissements pour s’y être rendus au cours de l’année passée, l’accueil fut plus chaleureux que jamais : les directeurs et les enseignants étaient heureux de voir que le Président de la Fondation avait tenu parole après avoir promis de revenir, tandis que les enfants s’émerveillaient par avance de recevoir chacun leur lot de manuels scolaires bien à eux.
Comme à son habitude, le Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong commença, dans chaque établissement, par s’entretenir avec le Directeur et les enseignants afin de s’enquérir de l’état général des écoles, en cette période de rentrée scolaire.
Le Président de la Fondation a ensuite procédé à la traditionnelle donation de manuels scolaires, distribuant un total de 200 livres dans chaque école : 100 manuels pour les élèves de 4ème année et 100 manuels pour les élèves de 5ème année, chaque lot couvrant les 4 matières de chaque classe. Les jeunes élèves ont reçu avec joie ces manuels qu’ils attendaient avec une rare impatience, sous l’œil ravi des directeurs et des enseignants, heureux de savoir que les conditions d’apprentissages, et donc d’enseignement, allaient ainsi pouvoir s’améliorer.
Dans l’école primaire Prey Chreap, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong a ensuite été visité le lieu où sera établi le potager dont le lancement a été décidé depuis sa dernière visite. Le directeur de l’établissement a alors reçu
des mains du Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong un ensemble complet d’outils de jardinage qui permettront de créer et d’entretenir régulièrement le futur potager : 7 houes, 7 bèches, 7 pelles, 1 couperet et 1 hache.
Un tel soutien a été d’autant plus apprécié par la population de l’école Prey Chreap que la province de Kompong Speu est régulièrement affectée par les intempéries climatiques qui ont un impact parfois catastrophique sur les récoltes.
A l’issue de ces visites riches en émotion et porteuses de promesses pour l’avenir des deux établissements, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong et son équipe ont quitté les écoles primaires de Prey Chreap et de Yabatong Tropeang K’aek, sous les applaudissements de leurs hôtes, et ont pris la route du retour vers Phnom Penh.
