The Norodom Racvivong Foundation

On 10 May 2010, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong , Neak Moneang NORODOM Kachanipha and his team undertook to travel to district of Thpong, located in the province of Kompong Speu, in order to answer an appeal launched by two schools whose directors had requested the support of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation: Taing Banteay Primary School and Prey Mich Primary School.

Within each school, the President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation and his team were warmly greeted by the director and the teachers, accompanied by throngs of cheerful children, all very well aware that this visit would mean an immediate improvement of the teaching conditions. In such rural areas where schools still lack of pedagogical tools despite the progress brought by the Royal Government since peace returned to the country, the support provided by the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation is seen as crucial which explains its growing popularity in the region.

Upon his arrival in each school, and while the team was preparing the donation ceremony, Samdech Preah Mohessara visited the premises before discussing with the directors and the teachers about everyday conditions and challenges at school. Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong especially encouraged his hosts to keep on striving to continue passing on their knowledge to the children they have been entrusted with, while promising to do everything he could to support them through the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation.

True to his word, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong then proceeded with the distribution of textbooks in each school, offering to thrilled pupils 440 books covering the 6 years of primary school. In Prey Mich Primary School especially, children welcomed Samdech Preah Mohessara in huge numbers to receive textbooks from him and to have the opportunity to be pictured with the Brother of His Majesty the King. The directors and the teachers expressed their deep gratefulness to the President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation whose support proves to be very timely while the ratio of textbooks per student remains very low.

Following the donation ceremony, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong , Neak Moneang NORODOM Kachanipha and his team gladly accepted to stand with the school’s director and teachers for the traditional picture session for which they were as usual surrounded by children delighted to have received their new textbooks.

The President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation and his team then said goodbye to their hosts and took the road back to Phnom Penh while the many children were happily applauding.

Le 10 Mai 2010, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong et son équipe se sont rendus dans le srok de Thpong, situé dans la province de Kompong Speu, pour y répondre à l’appel de deux établissements scolaires dont les directeurs avaient sollicité l’aide de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong : les écoles primaires Taing Banteay et Prey Mich.

Dans chaque établissement, le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong et ses collaborateurs ont été chaleureusement accueillis par le directeur et les enseignants accompagnés de nuées d’enfants rayonnants, chacun sachant que cette visite allait signifier une amélioration immédiate des conditions d’enseignement. Dans ces zones rurales où les écoles continuent de manquer de matériaux pédagogiques de base en dépit des nombreux progrès apportés par le Gouvernement Royal depuis le retour de la paix, un appui tel que celui offert par la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong est considéré comme crucial, ce qui explique l’engouement croissant des écoles de la région pour la Fondation.

Une fois sur place, pendant que l’équipe de la Fondation s’affairait à préparer la distribution des dons, Samdech Preah Mohessara a visité chaque établissement avant de s’entretenir avec les directeurs et le corps enseignant sur l’état de la vie scolaire et sur les difficultés rencontrées au quotidien. Samdech Preah Mohessara a exhorté ses hôtes à poursuivre leurs efforts pour continuer à assurer l’éducation des enfants dont ils ont la responsabilité tout en promettant de faire son possible pour apporter quelques améliorations par le biais de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong.

Joignant le geste à la parole, le Prince NORODOM Chakrapong a ensuite procédé, dans chaque établissement, à une distribution de manuels scolaires offrant aux élèves à la mine réjouie 440 livres couvrant les 6 années du cycle primaire. Dans l’école primaire Prey Mich en particulier, les enfants sont venus très nombreux accueillir Samdech Preah Mohessara pour recevoir de sa main les manuels offerts par la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong et pour avoir l’opportunité de prendre une photo avec le Frère du Roi. Les directeurs et enseignants ont exprimé leur vive reconnaissance au Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong dont l’aide est venue à point nommé alors que le ratio du nombre de manuels scolaires par élève reste très faible.

Une fois la distribution de manuels achevée, Samdech Preah Mohessara et son équipe ont sacrifié à la traditionnelle séance de photo souvenir, posant devant chaque école entourés du directeur, des enseignants et des enfants, heureux d’avoir reçu leurs nouveaux manuels scolaires.

Le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong et ses collaborateurs ont ensuite pris congé de leurs hôtes sous les applaudissements enjoués des jeunes élèves avant de reprendre la route de Phnom Penh.
