On 7 July 2009, the team of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation and its President, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, traveled to the province of Kompong Speu to pay a visit to the pupils and teachers of the Primary Schools of Tuol Sovong and Sangha Satrey Khmer.
A few weeks ago, the Prince and his team had already carried out a mission there and had then distributed textbooks to the children while the project of a vegetable garden had been studied with the representatives of the Sangha Satrey Khmer Primary School. Following these meetings, Samdech Preah Mohessara had promised to come in order to offer more textbooks to the children as well as to inaugurate and equip the vegetable garden of the primary school Sangha Satrey Khmer.
As promised, the Foundation’s team therefore organized a new mission during which the Prince brought the previously announced donations to hand to overjoyed children and teachers in both schools. Thus, the Prince and his collaborators were greeted upon their arrival by a warm and enthusiastic welcome in both places which are now familiar to them.
Samdech Preah Mohessara then distributed 200 books in each location, covering all four topics of Year 5 and Year 6 of primary school. The young pupils gladly received these donations which they had been eagerly waiting for especially after having seen their schoolmates from Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 receiving theirs from the Prince. Both teachers and children joyfully expressed their deep gratitude towards the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation whose support will allow classes to better operate.
After having distributed the books to the pupils of the Sangha Satrey Khmer Primary School, Samdech Preah Mohessara and his team also presented the representatives of the school with a whole kit of tools in order to initiate the vegetable growing activity, in accordance with what had been discussed and agreed upon during the last visit. As usual, the kit comprised 7 spades, 7 hoes, 7 shovels, 1 cleaver and 1 axe. In return, the director and teachers of the Sangha Satrey Khmer Primary School committed to implement the project which should help to promote food security amongst teachers and pupils. While the consequences of the global crisis are about to hit hard places such as Kompong Speu where development and population growth have already reduced available land per household, such initiatives designed to promote food self sufficiency are systematically welcome. As for other schools it is supporting, the Foundation’s team will follow up on the implementation of the project and will be regularly updated on its status and progress.
Besides the distributions of books, very well appreciated by all, Samdech Preah Mohessara and his team took as usual the time to discuss with their hosts about the general state of each schools and their possible needs in the future.
Following these visits, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong and his team bade farewell to each school’s pupils, teachers and director. As always, they were thus accompanied to the gates of the primary schools by grateful crowds before undertaking the trip back to Phnom Penh.
Le 7 juillet 2009, l’équipe de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong et son Président, Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong, ont effectué un déplacement dans la province de Kompong Speu pour rendre visite aux élèves et enseignants des écoles primaires de Tuol Sovong et de Sangha Satrey Khmer.
Il y a quelques semaines, le Prince et son équipe avaient en effet effectué une première mission sur place durant laquelle ils avaient distribué plusieurs manuels scolaires tandis qu’un projet de jardin potager avait été étudié avec les représentants de l’école primaire de Sangha Satrey Khmer. A l’issue de ces rencontres, Samdech Preah Mohessara avait promis de revenir pour offrir plus de manuels scolaires aux élèves et pour inaugurer et équiper le jardin potager de l’école primaire de Sangha Satrey Khmer.
Comme promis, l’équipe de la Fondation Samdech Racvivong a donc organisé un nouveau déplacement au cours duquel son Président a apporté les dons annoncés, pour la plus grande joie des enseignants et élèves des deux écoles. Un accueil chaleureux et enthousiaste a ainsi été réservé au Prince et à ses collaborateurs par la population deux écoles primaires qui leur sont désormais familières.
C’est ainsi que Samdech Preah Mohessara NORODOM Chakrapong a distribué 200 ouvrages dans chaque école, couvrant les quatre matières des 5ème et 6ème années du cycle primaire. Les jeunes élèves ont reçu avec enthousiasme ces présents de la Fondation qu’ils attendaient impatiemment depuis qu’ils avaient vu leurs camarades de 1ère, 2ème, 3ème et 4ème année recevoir les leurs des mains du Prince. Élèves comme enseignants exprimèrent ainsi joyeusement leur profonde gratitude envers la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong venue apporter un soutien favorisant l’enseignement dans les deux écoles.
A l’issue de la distribution effectuée dans l’école primaire de Sangha Satrey Khmer, Samdech Preah Mohessara et son équipe remirent en outre aux responsables de l’établissement un kit complet permettant de lancer les activités potagères, telles qu’elles avaient été envisagées puis planifiées au cours de la précédente visite. Au total furent remis à l’école : 7 houes, 7 bêches, 7 pelles, 1 couperet et 1 hache. Les responsables de l’école Sangha Satrey Khmer se sont alors engagés à mettre en œuvre le projet qui permettra de renforcer la sécurité alimentaire des élèves et des enseignants. Alors que les effets de la crise mondiale continuent de se faire sentir et que la croissance démographique et le développement réduisent la taille des rizières disponibles par famille, toute initiative allant dans ce sens est ainsi la bienvenue, en particulier dans les provinces les plus pauvres. Dans cette école comme dans toutes les autres où un tel projet alimentaire a été mis en place, l’équipe de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong suivra régulièrement la mise en œuvre et sera tenue informée des progrès enregistrés.
En marge de ces distributions très appréciées de tous, Samdech Preah Mohessara et son équipe se sont comme de coutume entretenus avec les directeurs et les enseignants de l’état général des deux écoles primaires et de leurs possibles besoin à l’avenir.
A l’issue de ces visites riches en émotion, le Prince NORODOM Chakrapong et son équipe ont fait leurs adieux aux élèves, enseignants et directeurs des deux établissements scolaires qui les ont raccompagné avec gratitude jusqu’aux portes de leurs établissements.
