On Saturday 6 June 2009, Samdech Preah Mahessara NORODOM Chakrapong and the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation visited three primary schools located in Ta Keo province in order to follow up on the activities sponsored by the Foundation and to further support the children.
A few months ago, the primary schools of Champa Loeuk, Ang Pra Sae and Sok An Mongkul Mean Leak had already twice welcomed Samdech Preah Mahessara, in July and December 2008. On his first visit, the President of the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation had donated textbooks to children studying in Primary Year 1 and Primary Year 2 of each school. On this occasion, a vegetable garden as well as fish raising activities had been launched in order to promote self sufficiency within the schools, in accordance with the Foundation’s principles. Samdech Preah Mahessara had then promised to come back and donate more books to the students. On his second visit, Samdech Preah Mahessara had witnessed the progress made by the vegetable growing and fish raising activities and distributed textbooks to children studying in Year 3 and Year 4 of each school.
On the occasion of his third visit, Samdech Preah Mahessara and his team were warmly welcomed by joyful children, teachers as well as by the directors of each school with which the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation has now established strong bonds of friendship and faithfulness all through the past year.
As usual, the Foundation’s President and his aides started by discussing the general state of each school with their hosts before visiting the vegetable garden and fish pond in order to check on the progress made by all three schools in activities which were initiated 11 months ago.
Samdech Preah Mahessara then fulfilled the promise he made in July and December and proceeded to distribute 200 textbooks in each school: 100 manuals covering all topics studied in Year 5 of Primary School and 100 manuals covering all topics studied in Year 6 of Primary School. Thus, throughout 2008-2009, the Samdech Norodom Racvivong Foundation has distributed textbooks covering all topics studied from Year 1 to Year 6 of Primary School to all the pupils of each school. Both teachers and children were overwhelmed to receive these books since the distribution completed the fulfillment of a commitment taken one year ago by Samdech Preah Mahessara.
Soon however, new requests were submitted to the Foundation and were granted a positive answer with Samdech Preah Mahessara agreeing to supply new books for Primary School Year 1 and Year 2 since a new edition has been launched by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
Besides, in order to help support the renovation of a dilapidated classroom, Samdech Preah Mahessara donated 200,000 riels to Ang Pra Sae Primary School. The director and the teachers expressed their profound gratitude to the Foundation’s President for this contribution which will help to promote a safer environment for all the students in their daily routine at school.
At the end of each of the three visits, the Foundation’s team and its President left the directors, teachers and students of each school while promising to come back soon in order to supply more textbooks and to further follow up the evolution of food self-sufficiency activities. As usual, their hosts bade them farewell while hoping for them to return soon.
Le samedi 6 juin 2009, Samdech Preah Mahessara NORODOM Chakrapong et l’équipe de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong se sont rendus dans trois écoles primaires de la province de Ta Keo pour y assurer le suivi de l’aide apportée il y a quelques mois et y renouveler leur soutien aux élèves.
Les écoles de Champa Loeuk, Sok An Mongkul Mean Leak et Ang Prâ Sae avaient déjà accueilli Samdech Preah Mahessara il y a quelques mois, en juillet et décembre 2008. Lors de sa première visite, le Président de la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong avait distribué des manuels scolaires aux élèves des 1ère et 2ème année du primaire. A cette occasion, un projet de jardin potager et d’élevage de poissons destiné à contribuer à l’autosuffisance alimentaire des établissements concernés, conformément à l’idéal promu par la Fondation, avaient été créés. Samdech Preah Mahessara s’était en outre engagé à revenir dans les trois écoles pour suivre l’évolution du projet alimentaire et pour continuer à équiper tous les élèves du primaire en livres scolaires. A l’occasion de sa seconde visite, Samdech Preah Mahessara avait pu constater les progrès enregistrés par le potager et l’élevage de poissons et avait également procédé à la distribution des livres scolaires aux élèves de la 3ème et de la 4ème année du primaire.
Pour sa troisième visite, le Prince et son équipe ont été reçus avec joie et émotion par les directeurs, enseignants et élèves des trois établissements avec lesquels la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong a tissé de véritables liens d’amitié et de fidélité au cours de l’année écoulée.
Comme de coutume, le Président de la Fondation et ses collaborateurs ont commencé par s’enquérir de l’état général de chaque école au cours d’entretiens avec la direction et les enseignants avant de se rendre au potager et à l’étang de chaque école pour y inspecter l’avancement, jugé satisfaisant dans les trois établissements, des activités lancées il y a maintenant 11 mois.
Tenant la promesse qu’il avait faite en juillet denier et répétée en décembre, Samdech Preah Mahessara a ensuite procédé à la distribution de 200 manuels scolaires dans chaque école, soit 100 manuels couvrant toutes les matières de la 5ème année du primaire et 100 manuels couvrant toutes les matières de la 6ème année du primaire. Au cours de l’année 2008-2009, la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong aura ainsi distribués dans chacune des trois écoles, des manuels couvrant toutes les matières des six années du primaire. Les enseignants et les élèves des trois établissements ont exprimé leur profonde reconnaissance à la Fondation Samdech Norodom Racvivong pour ces livres dont la distribution était particulièrement symbolique puisque qu’elle complétait la réalisation de la promesse faite par Samdech Preah Mahessara il y a près d’un an.
Mais déjà, des nouvelles demandes ont été adressées à la Fondation, laquelle y a répondu positivement, puisque Samdech Preah Mahessara s’est engagé à fournir de nouveaux manuels de 1ère et 2ème années du primaire, ceux-ci ayant été récemment réédités par le Ministère de l’Education, de la Jeunesse et des Sports.
Par ailleurs, afin d’aider à financer la rénovation d’une salle de classe en mauvais état, Samdech Preah Mahessara a remis un don supplémentaire de 200 000 riels à l’école primaire de Ang Prâ Sae. Le directeur et les enseignants ont profondément remercié le Président de la Fondation pour cette contribution qui permettra d’améliorer les conditions d’enseignement au quotidien et donc bénéficiera à tous les élèves.
A l’issue de chacune des trois visites, l’équipe de la Fondation et son Président ont quitté la direction, les enseignants et les élèves de chaque école en leur promettant de revenir pour fournir de nouveaux manuels aux élèves et pour continuer à suivre l’évolution des programmes alimentaires. Comme toujours, ils ont été chaleureusement salués par leurs hôtes, déjà impatients de les voir revenir.
